Mercedes are back in F1 as a manufacturer team for the first time since the end of the 1955 F1 season after buying Brawn GP. I find this suprising because they said they would never come back to the sport like that after the 1955 Le Mans disaster, in which Mercedes driver Pierre Levegh was killed and took 84 spectators with him after his car was launched into the crowd on the main straight.

All we need now is for Audi to come back, then we can go back to the glory days of the 1930s when Auto Union and Mercedes-Benz ruled the tracks of Europe.

The question now is, who will drive for them? My money is on the out of work German duo of Nico Rosberg and Nick Heidfeld. This would mean that Jenson Button would have to sign for McLaren and team up with Lewis Hamilton.

PS: Timo Glock and rookie Lucas di Grassi have sign to drive for new boys Manor Grand Prix.
